Casamayor and Judah both win in ring returns

LAS VEGAS (AP) Four-time world champion Joel Casamayor of Cuba and three-time champ Zab Judah of the United States both earned victories in their returns to the ring on Friday.

Casamayor earned a unanimous decision victory over American Jason Davis with all three judges scoring the super-lightweight bout 79-73. In the co-main event, Judah stopped Mexican Ubaldo Hernandez in the second round.

Judah floored Hernandez twice late in the first round and sent him to the canvas again early in the second with a hard body shot. Hernandez winced in pain and was unable to continue. Referee Joe Cortez stopped the fight 35 seconds into the round.

NUREMBERG, Germany (AP) David Haye doesn't care that he's nearly a foot shorter and 100 pounds lighter than Nikolai Valuev. He's convinced he will become the first fighter to floor the giant Russian.

"I've dreamt of the moment Valuev falls to the canvas, and I truly believe it will be one of the most jaw-dropping knockouts of all-time," Haye said before Saturday's bout against the WBC heavyweight champion in Nuremberg. (MORE)

Gatti's widow awarded $37,500 by Quebec judge

MONTREAL (AP) The widow of boxing champion Arturo Gatti lost her bid for $140,000 she was seeking from the boxer's estate, but was awarded $37,500 to cover legal fees and child care costs on Thursday.

Superior Court Justice Paul Chaput also allowed Amanda Rodrigues to enter their condominium in Montreal to collect her belongings. (MORE)

Boxing Hall of Famer Lou Filippo dies at 83

LOS ANGELES (AP) Lou Filippo, who judged 85 world champion fights and had small roles in the "Rocky" movies, has died. He was 83.

Officials say Filippo suffered a stroke and died Monday at a hospital in the Los Angeles suburb of Downey, where he lived. He had judged a fight only two weeks ago. (MORE)

Yohnny Perez takes IBF bantamweight title

LAS VEGAS (AP) Yohnny Perez floored Joseph Agbeko in the 10th round and won a unanimous decision Saturday night to take the International Boxing Federation bantamweight title in the first boxing match at Treasure Island Hotel & Casino.

Perez, a Colombian who lives in California, had winning scores of 117-110 on two judges' scorecards and 116-111 on the other to take Agbeko's championship in the Ghana fighter's third defense. (MORE)

Pacquiao: Mayweather doesn't want to fight me

LOS ANGELES (AP) Manny Pacquiao believes the biggest potential fight in boxing will never happen because Floyd Mayweather Jr. wants no part of him.

Pacquiao is training in Hollywood for his meeting with Miguel Cotto on Nov. 14 in Las Vegas, but the pound-for-pound champion spared a moment on Thursday to evaluate his chances of fighting Mayweather, the unbeaten pay-per-view king. Although the matchup almost certainly would be a financial bonanza for both fighters, Pacquiao thinks fans shouldn't hold their breath. (MORE)
